Where to vote and sample ballots

Vote in person during early voting or on Election Day. Your county sets the locations, and most let you vote at any site in the county.

Your polling places and ballot depend on your home address and county, not just your city. Austin spans 3 counties. Pick yours:

Voting by mail

Texas mail ballots are only for voters who are 65 or older, sick or disabled, out of the county during voting, expecting to give birth near Election Day, or confined in jail but eligible. You apply to your county's early voting clerk.

What ID to bring

Bring an accepted photo ID, such as a Texas driver's license, Texas election ID certificate, U.S. passport or military ID. If you don't have one, the state lists other options.

Accessibility

Every voter can get help: accessible voting machines, curbside voting and an assistant of your choice. The official page explains how to ask.

Official ballot information

City and council district alone don't determine your ballot. Use your county's official address or voter lookup when available. Composite sample ballots include contests that may not apply to you. Enter personal details only on the official site, never here.
