The basic rules for using The Local Voice to follow local decisions and speak up.

About the site

The Local Voice is an independent project that explains local decisions. It is not run by any government or political party. By using the site, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use it.

Check the official record

We explain decisions using official records and short summaries written with help from AI. We label possible effects separately. Summaries can have mistakes or leave out details. A possible effect is not a promise of what will happen, and it doesn't mean any group holds that view. Meeting dates, votes, election details, and deadlines can change. Always check the linked official source before you act. Nothing on this site is legal or other professional advice.

Your messages and choices

Email drafts are a starting point. They don't describe your own experience. Check who it's going to and what it says, add only what's true for you, and decide whether to send it. We don't send emails to the council for you, and we can't promise it will arrive, get a reply, or change the result. An email doesn't replace the City's official public-comment process or election rules. Our counts come from visitors who tell us what they did. They are not a scientific poll of the community.

Use it responsibly

Don't harass or threaten anyone, pretend to be someone else, sign up someone else's email without their OK, fake the counts, or send spam. Don't try to get into private information, get around our protections, or disrupt the site. We may block people who misuse it. Don't share private personal details in reports or emails unless you're OK with them becoming public.

Links and availability

Official websites, voter tools, and email services are run by others and have their own rules. We don't control what they show, when they work, or how they handle privacy. We offer this site as it is, when it's available. We don't promise it will always work, cover every decision, or send alerts on time. To the extent allowed by law, we provide no warranties of accuracy or availability and are not responsible for losses from relying on the site. These terms do not remove rights or protections that cannot legally be limited.

Privacy and changes

Our privacy policy explains what information we use and the choices you have. We may change the site and these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. To fix a fact, use the report-a-mistake option on any decision page. We'll add a public contact here for other questions.
